Recent qualifications in corporate governance achieved and the acceptance as a Fellow member of the Chartered Institute of Secretaries reflect the expertise in the field of corporate administration and law. The practice is expanding into these new areas of demand created in the current economic period. Significant and current role include assistant Company Secretary of Qiagen N.V. listed in USA and Germany.

Qiagen NV is based in the Netherlands and is dual-listed in Germany and in the USA (NASDAQ-QGEN). During the first half of 2008, Qiagen conducted an intensive due-diligence resulting in the acquisition of Corbett Research Pty Ltd and related entities. With the combination of hardware and assay systems integrated, the business can provide technological solutions for DNA and RNA sampling and assays delivering a complete end to end product. By way of a structured takeover valued at approximately $150 million, the transaction highlighted the value of this successful Australian manufacturer and worldwide distributor of scientific instruments.

Role involved giving assistance for the hand-over of corporate responsibility to the new owners and management ensuing that the transition process continues to operate smoothly. Qiagen’s business is principally based in Europe and the United States and the current role occupied in Australia shall be expanded to include additional responsibilities in Asia and the Middle East.

Corbett Research Pty Ltd is a successful manufacturer and worldwide distributor of scientific instruments. The core machine is the Rotor-Gene 6000 thermal-cycle device for DNA sequencing. Corbett has a number of new scientific instruments and robotic devices under development and this requires the management of a number of patent claims and possible infringements issues.

Position involves the management of the patent portfolio and related intellectual property issues; participation and negotiation for licences; overseeing litigation initiated against us in the USA and Germany; preparation of distribution agreements; development and review of international OEM supply agreements; managing commercial property leases; preparation for purchase of lands and subsequent redevelopment; drafting shareholders’ and unit holders’ agreements and amendments; preparation of convertible notes issue; and the performance of company secretary duties.

My Adviser developed an extended range of technologies primarily to support independent members of the Financial Planning and Services industry. The organisation is in the process of capital raising and currently reviewing the prospect of a joint IPO with its technology partner. Southern Cross Equities provided the seed capital.

Delta Allied owns and manages five allied health centres throughout Sydney, the focus is on providing local doctors with a service that adheres to the guidelines set out by WorkCover’s work related activation program (WRAP).

Barrister at Laws key achievements and experienceincluded representing substantial matters for clients before the Court of Appeal, District and Local Court in a range of matters including criminal trials, commercial litigation and family law matters, and negotiating settlements that reduced the number of actions that actually proceeded to Court.
